Month One Done..or almost.

So today we did lil T’s 6th birthday party…never again. And since one of the little ones is staying the night with us,  I don’t have much time. So I’ll just touch on a few things.

My long run this week was a mere 8 miles….and would have been awesome except for the fact that a school bus driver SOAKED me to the freakin bone at 2 miles in. Too far to turn around and go home…too grown up to follow the asshole down the dead end street where he went to hide and beat his ass. I did get to finally see who has been plowing the path the last two winters and I thanked him..that dude rocks!

Today I had 3-5 easy and I ran in the Frees because my Muzinos were still wet from Thursday. On a run this short they didn’t bother me..maybe that’s the ticket to running in them? I also brought Brian out with me. I don’t ever take him if it’s below 25 degrees and with it being a balmy like 30 some degrees..I put on his sweater and off we went. True to his usual jackass form…he went after every dog we saw and embarrassed me….but it was nice to have him out again. He was one dirty little dog when we got home.

I also got a chance to do a little barefooting today!!!! After I did my three miles I ditched the Frees and headed home…and let me tell you…if you think people look at you strange when you’re running barefoot in decent weather…see what happens when it’s 32 degrees and wet roads. I didn’t even go half a mile but it felt amazing...I’ll take what I can get.

Finally..I am about to close out my first month of marathon training. I have one more run left tomorrow to the tune of 6 or so miles…hopefully with Lori. That will put me at 124 miles for the month. I’m feeling good. I think these step back weeks are going to do the trick of this plan of mine. Next month will be the real test starting with a 17 mile, 19 miler and 22 or so miler. February generally sucks less then January so I’m hoping for some fairly decent weather to complete these runs in. The little ones I could care less about the weather…you can deal with anything for an hour. But 2, 3 plus hours….well lets just say that a little thing not freezing your ass off helps.

And on a last note…

23 days, 5 hours, 53 minutes and 43 seconds smoke free.

Another Awesome Sunday

Aside from Skips phone going off at 5:30. I get one day in the week where I don’t have to get up at the butt crack of dawn and Sunday is supposed to be it…and thanks to my darling husband….that was shot to shit today.

Because he was being punished…I made him drive Brian and I to Lake Andrea and go run errands until I was done. Allison couldn’t join us but did her miles at home…as did Amy..so it was just Traci, Jules, Brian and I. I got there early…sort of. When we went to leave our house…Brian decided to haul ass around the neighborhood for awhile because he thought Skip looked like he could use some exercise and decided to give it to him in the form of a game of chase…little shit. So by the time I got there it was already 10 after 9 and I really trucked it to try to make it back to the parking lot by 9:30. Didn’t happen…but I had called Jules and told her to start without me and I’d just catch them. It was a good run. There were a number of people out running and enjoying the weather. The girls are getting better…breathing easier…and running a little faster. We did even splits and decided that next week we are going to start to get a bit more serious. I’m hoping that enough meltage has taken place by then that we can actually mimic the 5K so that they know exactly what they’re going to be doing.

Brian did awesome! I don’t even remember the last time I had him out. Between it being freezing..and then his surgery…it’s been a couple months I think. He knocked it out like nothing and bounced around the rest of the day. What I wouldn’t give to be able to come back like that…LOL.

I also did my pushups this morning…since I was up anyways. Today was a struggle. I feel like I AM getting stronger…but the rest of this week is going to BITE! I imagine that at the end of the week when we retest…I’m going to get knocked into the lowest level…and damn if I’d even mind.

Date with Billy Blanks @ 5AM and work tomorrow. Hopefully it goes a little better tomorrow then Friday. Our drug screen bathrooms started gurgling and something went crazy and backed up water into docs office…it was a freakin mess…but a funny one.

Hope everyone has a great week….my baby Vincent turns 14 tomorrow….and if it gets really bad at work…I can console myself with knowing at least I’m not giving birth like I was 14 years ago!

32.19 miles this week...booya!

Brian the Jackass and Updates from the Beaver Lodge

So J wasn't feeling good this morning and I decided to stick close to home and run solo.  This is not entirely true because I tried to con D into running with me but he wasn't having it.  Since it was a balmy 25 degrees I took both dogs with me...something I have not done since late summer.  Actually this is the first time I've had Jenga out since then...and she was wonderful...just happy to go.  Now Brian on the other hand...acted like a complete moron and I threatened to tie him to a tree and NOT come back for him....which is probably exactly what I should have done.  He was weaving, drifting, trying to chase every damn thing he saw...ugg...either I need to get him out more....or I need to retire him at 1 years old...lol.

Jenga is the red one...pushing 9 years old...2 years running.

I didn't even realize there were ducks in there till I got home and uploaded.

Looks like the beaver lodge has been having company...I hope no assholes mess with it.
Did you know the average beaver weighs between 40-60 pounds?

So that's it...my Sunday run.  4.3 miles...45 minutes 58 seconds...intervals.  I hit 30 miles this week.  Not bad for mid January in Wisconsin.
